Steve Vanstone began his creative career as a photographer before moving into oil painting in 2016.

 

“Painting gives an artist the ability to observe what is there and, through a process of enhancement and simplification, create work that conveys mood and atmosphere. I find this balance between exaggeration and omission fascinating. Our surroundings can inspire many different emotions. They can remind us of a place or person close to our hearts, or evoke something harder to define, a quiet sense of awe at a scene larger than our own experience.

 

My aim as an artist is to take the viewer on a journey into some of those places and allow them to reconnect with those feelings.”
